Is there anything you can do to train your Beagle at home for these field days? How does this work? And how do you keep them all from running in different directions?

You'll be suprised at how the pack sticks together and dont all scatter!! ;)

As far as training them... depending on what scent is used for the lure... get them familiar with that... at the JHB hunts we use pilchards in tomato sauce... super smelly and gross... but if u can stomach it... give some to your pups... make them REALLY worked up and excited before you give it to them... tease them with the smell,,, make whem bark and go crazy for it, before rewarding them with a little nibble or lick.

You can even set up a mini scent trail with it in your garden!

I used a variety of scents, My dogs work on hunting farms looking for animals that was not shot well. I started with small easy trails with any scent from polony to fish, have yet to make it to the field days to test my dogs on a trail laid there, if only the hunters would do better
